hiking orthotics solve pain

Poul Anderson is a keen hiker but found that the standard insoles in his hiking boots did not have enough arch support and were causing him pain, impacting his enjoyment of his favourite pastime.

During his initial free consultation, Poul asked if it was possible to make his orthotics suitable for his hiking boots and his normal street shoes for walking and cycling in London on his commute to work. We decided the best option for this was to make some low-profile, yet supportive orthotics suitable for multiple uses.

Following his free consultation Poul decided to proceed with the orthotics. We completed a full gait analysis, and biomechanical assessment, made a vacuum mould of Poul’s feet and created bespoke orthotics which were ready and tested at the end of the appointment.

Bespoke Hiking Orthotics from Foot Factor

Poul was delighted with his bespoke orthotics and shared the following with us:

Some months later I can happily report that I have been on two weeks of coastal walking in Cornwall and Wales at about 20km a day, and have used my Foot Factor orthotics daily when cycling and walking about London on my commute. My feet have felt natural the whole time – not really noticing them – as it should be!

He also left us a glowing five-star review on Google.

My review of Foot Factor can only be described as ‘glowing’ because of the excellent and detailed personal service they provided, and the positive impact that the orthotics have had on my feet months on!

I walked in with standard issue arch-supports that were causing pain and walked out rather more comfortably with a pair of custom formed full-foot orthotic in-soles, which have allowed me to once again enjoy hiking!

We are so pleased that the orthotics are working so well for Poul, allowing him to enjoy his hikes and his commute to work, pain-free.

Why you should consider hiking orthotics

Bespoke orthotics help align your feet, ankles, and lower limbs, reducing strain on muscles and joints. This alignment can prevent common hiking injuries like plantar fasciitis, shin splints, and knee pain. They provide tailored support to your arches, distributing weight evenly across your feet. This support reduces fatigue and minimises the risk of developing hotspots or blisters, especially during long hikes.

Quick and convenient

We are conveniently located in central London, near Oxford Circus tube station. After an in-depth biomechanical, gait and posture analysis, customised orthotics are hand-made to provide perfect support. Your Foot Factor orthotics are ready to wear at the end of your appointment!
